1999 Daewoo Cars

After Daewoo's early success in the late 60's and early 70's, the auto manufacturing side of Daewoo's many business ventures fell into financial trouble. After struggling through many years of decline, they went bankrupt, and were bought by General Motors. General Motors produced a select variety of cars under the Daewoo name from 1999 through 2002.

1999 Daewoo's: Daewoo produced six models of the compact car called Lanos in 1999. Included in this line were six models, three coupes and three sedans, all of which were front wheel drive, 1.6 liter inline four cylinder engines. They all boasted a 26 mpg city, and 36 mpg highway fuel economy. The Lanos had many option packages to include air conditioning, automatic transmission, and anti-lock brakes, along with power windows and door locks.

In 1999 Daewoo also produced a mid-size sedan labeled the Nubira. Again there were six models of the Nubira, four sedans, combined with two sedan station wagons. These models all included 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engines and front wheel drive. The Nubira had a fuel economy rating of 23 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The Nubira also came with a variety of option packages that included automatic transmissions, air conditioning, power windows, and power doors, along with anti-lock brakes.

Also in 1999 Daewoo produced a larger, more upscale sedan by the name of Leganza. Coming in only three different models and being a larger luxury style car, the Leganza did not have as much success as the Nubira or Lanos. All three models came with the same 2.2 liter inline four cylinder engine, and front wheel drive train. Using the four cylinder engines the Leganza still maintained a respectable fuel economy of 21 mpg city, and 25 mpg highway. Being a more luxury based sedan, the Leganza came only with an automatic transmission. The Leganza did however come with many options including anti-lock brakes, leather seats, fog lights, moon roof, and a premium sound system made by Sony, along with the more standard option of power windows and doors, as well as air conditioning.

If you are looking for an inexpensive used car then one of these models might be for you depending on your needs. The Lanos has an average market value of $1,400 to $2,000 depending on factors such as mileage, vehicle condition, and options. The Daewoo Nubira is probably your best bet out of this group, because it is a mid-size sedan, and more of this model was produced. Average market value for the Nubira also depends on options, mileage and condition, and usually falls between $1,600 and $2,500. If you are looking for a more upscale car then the Leganza is what you're after. Average market value for the Leganza falls between $1,700 and $2,700. Once again these values are determined by condition, mileage, and option packages. As with most cars you will probably spend more at a dealership compared to a private seller. Whatever your needs are one of these 1999 Daewoos can fill that need and keep it in line with your budget.
