2002 Daewoo Cars
After Daewoo's early success in the late 60's and early 70's, the auto manufacturing side of Daewoo's many business ventures fell into financial trouble. After struggling through many years of decline, they went bankrupt, and were bought by General Motors. General Motors produced a select variety of cars under the Daewoo name from 1999 through 2002. After the 2002 lineup was released General Motors ceased production of Daewoo automobiles, but has planned to restart production within five years.
2002 Daewoo Cars: The 2002 Daewoo Lanos went through very little changes from the 2001 version. The company stayed with two coupe models, and one sedan version of the Lanos. The Lanos kept its 1.6 liter inline four cylinder engine, and front wheel drive transmission, with minimum changes. The Lanos kept its good fuel economy at 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. The sport version had a sharper edgier look, than the base coupe and sedan. The Lanos still came with a variety of options including automatic transmission, power windows and door locks, as well as air conditioning and anti-lock brakes.
The 2002 mid-size Daewoo Nubira was down sized to only two models for 2002. A base mid-sized sedan and a sedan station wagon were produced, cutting the second sedan model from the 2001 lineup. The 2002 edition of the Nubira changed very little cosmetically, or mechanically. The Nubira kept the same 2.0 liter four cylinder inline engine, as well as the front wheel drive train. As a result of the minimum changes the Nubira's fuel economy stayed basically the same. The 2002 maintained a 23 mpg city and 28 mpg highway rating. The 2002 did however offer a manual or automatic transmission for the first time, on both models. The Nubira also offered a large variety of options separate from the transmissions. Included in these options were power windows and door locks, anti-lock brakes, and air conditioning.

In addition to the compact and mid-size models offered by Daewoo, the company also offered an upscale more luxury based sedan called the Leganza. The 2002 lineup dropped one model, leaving only two choices. Once again the 2002 Leganza changed very little from the 2001 version. The Leganza kept the same 2.2 liter inline four cylinder engine and front wheel drive train. The SE again offered a base manual transmission, while the CDX only offered an automatic transmission. The SE model changed little as far as fuel economy, maintaining a rating of 21 mpg city and 25+ highway. The CDX version also changed little in fuel economy, keeping its rating at 20 mpg city and 24+ highway. All models still came with the standard options of anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, as well as more luxury options like leather seats, a moon roof, and fog lights.
The average market value for these cars is as follows. 2002 Lanos $2,700 to $4,000. The 2002 Nubria goes for around $3,400 to $4,100. The 2002 Leganza has a market value of $3,300 to $4,300. Of course all these prices depend on condition, mileage, and options. If you are looking for an inexpensive used car then these Daewoo models might be for you.
